Unlike so many online communities, QuestaGame is not interested in your personal information. We're interested in wildlife data for the purpose of biodiversity education and conservation.
Any personal information we collect is simply meant to enable you to play the game and to ensure the game can distinguish between all the different players. Other players of the game can only view data which is relevant to the game.
The four pieces of personal information we require are (i) a user name, (ii) a password, (iii) an email address and, if you submit sightings through your device (iv) a location.
We recommend using a made-up name. That way, your real name cannot be associated with your password or with any of your gaming activity.
If you use your real name, be sure to use a unique password. Note: All passwords are encrypted and cannot be accessed or viewed by anyone - even by staff at QuestaGame.
We need an email address simply to notify you of gaming activity and deliver your requested services (e.g. forgot password). The game will not be as fun if you use a fake email; however, you are not required to provide a legitimate email address.
We do not sell, reveal or redistribute our e-mail lists to third parties or spammers. All email addresses are kept strictly confidential. No email address (apart from our own company email address) is ever visible to the public.
We will not send you promotional material unless you’ve specifically requested it, and we will only send you a newsletter if you’ve signed up for an account that’s relevant to the newsletter. QuestaGame apps and web services may generate notifications related to your activity. However, you can usually turn this feature on/off (opt-out) in your ’My Settings’ after you log in to your account.
We also believe you should be able to remove yourself from any mailing list quickly and easily. All newsletters and automated messages allow you to remove your email address from the mailing list either by clicking an ’unsubscribe’ or ’remove’ link (and confirming your desire to unregister), or by logging into your account and changing your ’Account Settings,’ or by simply replying with "Please Remove" or similar.
The only other information we collect is location data when you submit a sighting through the game. Location data is necessary because it helps experts identify the sighting and allows the game to give the sighting a rarity score, which is based on location and season.
If location data is made public, it's "blurred," which means the marker is randomly selected somewhere within 5-10km of the actual sighting.
Any e-commerce transaction through our site will take place through secure servers, utilizing the latest encryption technology from reputable sources to safeguard all transactions (e.g. credit card/online purchases) from unauthorized viewing, using standard SSL encryption, or the equivalent, with a certificate from VeriSign or its equivalent.
These measures, along with our belief that it’s up to the individual to determine who receives and what may be done with his or her personal information, ensure that any personal information submitted on our site will be kept strictly confidential. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please contact us through the QuestaGame website.
